Company History
Dr. Pamela Coker, President and CEO, and Drake Coker, Chief Scientist, founded Acucorp, Inc. in November, 1988. Originally touted as "the most portable COBOL in the universe," Acucorp's ACUCOBOL-GT development system continues to provide unparalleled portability - allowing developers to easily move their source code from one environment to more than 600 others without recompilation.
Acucorp is and always has been dedicated to extending and enhancing the life of legacy applications. We started by creating the most portable COBOL on the market. Then we added capabilities for connecting to data sources and for creating a graphical front end in COBOL. With the introduction of e-commerce, we developed tools to Web-enable COBOL and connect it to Java. With the advent of mobile computing, we developed mobile and thin client solutions that provide connectivity to remote COBOL applications. Our basic message has always been the same: COBOL has lasting power. You can stay current without abandoning your investment in applications that define your business.
